Book Release/Signing Shindig
I had such fun celebrating the release of Glimpses of the Savior, the devotional my friend Harriet E. Michael and I co-wrote.
I love tracing God’s hand in situations. Those present at the book signing represented my family and my Nigeria Mission family who have known me since I was born, as well as numerous phases of my life: Philadelphia Baptist, Biblical Counseling, Valley View Baptist, Crestway Baptist, and friends in general. I thank God for these precious ones who have loved and encouraged me throughout the years.
Here are some pics my friend Scott Johnson took. Others to come …
We gathered in the chapel for a prayer thanking God for giving Harriet E. Michael and me the gifts, talents, abilities, experiences, and opportunities to write.
Next, Dr. Howard Eyrich, shared with the group. His books, Life Lessons for Ancient Prophets and Art of Aging: Preparing & Caring, along with Hope for New Beginnings that I co-wrote with him, were given as door prizes.
I tell people my beloved friend Dr E has thought more deeply about biblical truth than most of us could collectively in 100 years! And, no! I’m not biased at all!
I thought it was neat that Dr. Eyrich was there and his books were door prizes. One of his mentees is Dr. Mark Shaw, whose books were also door prizes. Dr. E and Dr. Mark are both mentors of mine (although they sometimes don’t want to take credit for what I do and say).
My nephew Lee’s book, A Struggle Within: The True Story of a Burn Survivor, was a door prize. Lee share about his experience and ways he is serving the Lord today.
Many of those present at the time he spoke prayed for Lee while he recovered from the horrendous burns.
I was thrilled my new niece, Lee’s wife, Serena was able to attend also.
We think Lee “dun good” choosing her as his wife. We missed my new great-niece Sarah.
My author friend, Elizabeth Noyes, called in and talked with us about her “Imperfect Series” of which the last book, Imperfect Promises was a door prize. It was interesting to hear from her and I learned several things I didn’t know about her!
Aunt Audrey won three beautiful sets of watercolor note cards and a pen from Village Press in Mountain Brook. And no, it wasn’t a rigged drawing!
The Grand Prize consisted of 7 print books and 2 ebooks. Susan Padgett won the Grand Prize. You’ll note in the picture that two of her friends are trying to swipe parts of Susan’s prize!
