My Two Cents
What a delightful story! Joanne Sloan has masterfully woven together the stories of four widows who meet monthly for a Tea Party and fellowship. The backdrop of Tea was a real draw for me, having been raised on the mission field and partaking in Tea Parties.
With each chapter we learn a little more about the personalities, lives, hurts, and dreams. As each one is challenged to do something they have always wanted to do, we walk alongside them as they are challenged and overcome adversity, disappointments, and sorrow. Their faith and friendship are the foundations through which they encourage each other to fulfill their challenges and celebrate each other’s lives.
I know these women! They are colorful, multi-faced, and delightful characters who remind me of some of the sweet women I know. Fun-loving, caring, and determined. I love how this story is permeated with Christ-followers of various ages, races, social, and economic levels—just like we’re supposed to have.
I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next!
I highly recommend this book. And, I’ve heard a rumor that a sequel is in the works!
