Release Date: October 5, 2019

Book Synopsis

In a small Amish town like Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, one solution to

Colossians 3:11 tells us that God is over all and through all and in all.

It is easy to see Him in the birth of a new baby, the glories of a magnificent garden, or the joy of a wedding ceremony.

But what of the times when we don’t notice him? The difficult times? The occasions when we don’t expect Him to show up?

In these seven devotional readings, Shirley Corder encourages you
to look for God in the Unexpected. Places such as:
* the technology that has so much influence over our lives today
* the dark prisons of life
* the cold place of a cancer diagnosis
and more.

My Two Cents

These devotions lead you to see God all around you. Each devotion begins with a focal Scripture passage to direct your thoughts, then, Shirley uses real-life accounts that illustrate the biblical truths for each devotion.

Among the things I love about these devotions is that Shirley clearly presents biblical truth in a way that is not only understandable, but helpful as she suggests solid life-applications

Each devotion has a “Just think!” section that leads you to interact with the biblical truths of each devotion by posing questions for you to prayerfully consider and answer.

As with most devotions, each one ends with a prayer in “Let’s Pray” that helps guide your thoughts as you pray.

An aspect of Shirley’s devotions that I absolutely love is at the end all the devotions, it’s called “Do You Know God?” Here she lays out the gospel in clear and easy-to-understand language.

I highly recommend this 7-day devotional, actually any of Shirley Corder’s books.
